I'm sure you've heard that some of the best long-term romantic relationships began as genuine friendships. That is exactly how our story began! We met on the campus of UCLA while both working at the Arthur Ashe Student Health Center in the fall of 2016. While our initial relationship dynamic was strictly as co-workers, our friendship began to develop over our mutual love for fast cars, loud boats, cool motorcycles and childhood memories of waterskiing on the Colorado River.


Our first social interaction outside the confines of our workplace happened when Val's car was in the shop and she deftly maneuvered through the rental car lot until finding the perfect Dodge Challenger with a HEMI V8 engine because she wanted to find, "something fun to drive" for the week. She texted me to share her new toy for the week and I invited myself to join her for a nighttime cruise all around Los Angeles trying to find every bridge, tunnel and underpass possible to listen to the throaty rumble of a big, badass American V8 echoing off the walls of the Southern California concrete jungle.


Our friendship evolved on the evening of October 11th, 2019, exactly six years to the day from our upcoming wedding date. What began as an evening cruise along Pacific Coast Highway up through Malibu, turned into an intimate and vulnerable dinner and ended up with a romantic stroll on the beach. We were both quite smitten with each other from that point on.


Our story evolved over the next few years as we both ended our respective employment at the UCLA campus in Westwood to relocate to our new home about an hour north in beautiful Ventura, CA in October 2021. We have reveled in the much more relaxed pace of life outside of the big city hustle of Los Angeles. This little beachside town has felt like a vacation destination that we somehow get to return home to every night.
